QUALIFIED SOCIAL WORKER – FOSTERING VACANCY – MILTON KEYNES

 

Our client is looking for a permanent Senior Practitioner to work within their Fostering organisation. This is a full time vacancy.

 

Job Purpose

 

To provide Social Work Services within the organisation and to supervise Foster Carers, Professional Assistants and Social Work students.

 

Duties

 

Supervision of Foster carers and monitoring of Foster Placements, particularly complex needs placements. Participation in the Referrals Duty System – Matching and Arranging Placements. Participation in Emergency/Out of Hours Rota. Undertaking and monitoring of  ‘F Form’ Assessments. Recruitment, Training & Development of Foster- Carers. Liaising with other agencies and professionals and representing the organisation at various meetings and forums, including Statutory Reviews, Placement Meetings and Child Protection investigations. To act as mentor to other or less experienced staff. To deputise for the Registered Manager, in some managerial tasks as appropriate Any other task as considered appropriate.

 

Essential Skills & Criteria

 

1)   Qualified Social worker- CQSW, DipSW, CSS etc

2)   At least 3 Years Post-qualifying Experience.

3)   Previous experience of working within Child Care.

4)   Previous experience of working within Family Placement.

5)   Sound Knowledge of Child-Care Legislation and in particular of Fostering

      Regulations and Standards, and of Child Protection Legislation.

6)   Good Communication Skills.

7)   Good Recording & I.T Skills.

8)   Ability to work on own initiative as well as to work as part of a team.

9) Ability to represent organisation in professional meetings.

10) Some flexibility within working patterns.

11) Own Transport / Mobility.

 

Desirable Skills & Criteria

 

1) Practice Teacher Qualification or previous experience of supervising staff.

2) Teaching / Training Qualification or previous experience of training others.

3) Previous Management Experience.

 

Salary - £28-35K per annum – full time 37 hours per week
